Bryan Felt announces promotions and reorganization of sports administration

South Orange, NJ – Seton Hall Director of Athletics and Recreation Bryan Felt ’97, KK ’05 has announced that four members of the department have been promoted, as well as reorganized the senior management duties of the department and sports administration.

Getting promotions are Loren Peterson to the Senior Director of Athletics for Internal Operations, Thomas Chen To the Senior Director of Athletics for External Relations, Jaclyn Panepinto to the Assistant Director of Athletics for Business Affairs and Kaitlin Kelly to associate head athletic trainer.

“Congratulations to Loren, Thomas, Jaclyn and Kaitlin on their well-earned promotions!” Felt said. “Their hard work and dedication to Seton Hall Athletics has afforded them these excellent opportunities to take on increased responsibilities and help improve our department and provide our student-athletes with a first-class experience first.”

Peterson joins Felt’s senior leadership team and is now responsible for overseeing the overall management of the department’s budget operations that includes financial reporting, long-term and capital planning, forecasting, internal controls, business operations systems and contract administration. In addition to financial management responsibilities, Peterson oversees the department’s human resources and is the athletic administrator for the volleyball, men’s golf and women’s golf programs.

Prior to this new role, Peterson held a variety of responsibilities within the department during a 20-year career with Seton Hall Athletics, most recently as the Associate Athletics Director of Business Affairs in charge of all business-related financial transactions.

Chen also joins the senior leadership team and is now responsible for all of the department’s external units, including communications, marketing, ticketing and the department’s corporate sponsorship partnership with Learfield.

Chen has been at Seton Hall since 2014, most recently holding the title of Associate Athletics Director for Digital Media and Communications, overseeing the department’s media relations, website, email communications and social media, as well as the division of broadcast and creative services department, Pirate. Sports Network.

Panepinto moves to the business office after a year as an administrative assistant within the athletics department, assisting the senior leadership team with compliance, travel operations, business development and management. She is now in charge of managing all business transactions of the department.

Kelly has been with the Pirates since September 2017, first as an assistant athletic trainer before being promoted to senior assistant athletic trainer. In addition to working closely with the men’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming and diving and tennis teams, Kelly helps ensure the training room operates under the direction of the sports medicine mission to provide the highest quality of health care to based on Seton Hall University student-athletes.

In addition to the promotions, Felt reorganized the department’s athletic administrative duties. Kathy Mattawho is the department’s Senior Associate Director of Athletics for Recreation Services, has added sports administrator duties for men’s and women’s swimming and diving. Sean McCarthywho is the Associate Athletics Director of Compliance, is now the sports administrator for the tennis team. Roberto Sassowho is the Associate Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Development and Leadership, is now the athletic administrator for the men’s and women’s cross country teams.

Felt is also in the process of adding a Senior Director of Athletics for Development, who will be responsible for all annual and capital athletics meetings within the Blue Pirate Athletics Fund, serve on the senior leadership team and have oversight of the softball program.
