The Grassroots Festival continues despite the denial of permission by the Department of Health

TOMPKINS COUNTY, NY – This year’s GrassRoots Festival had it all: music, art, fellowship, lots of people in attendance, that usual festive feel. The only thing it didn’t have? Some of the festival operating permits.

Confirmed by the Tompkins County Health Department and GrassRoots organizers, the festival never received its Mass Gathering permits for camping and parking along the road. The festival had applied, as usual, and permits are normally approved, although sometimes with a little time.

This year, however, they were not, and whether or not there will be any consequences is unclear. Technically, the GrassRoots festival was held legally, but camping and parking along the road was illegal.
