Twizted Sisters new wine and paint business

A new business will open next spring in Ripley. It will be a paint and wine business. You can organize a party, have a glass of wine and draw a picture with your friends and family.

Shellee Jones, one of the owners, described the business.

“Many moons ago, me and one of my many sisters thought we were The Twizted Sizters,” Jones said. “I’m excited to include him in my venture with this. She is one of my best friends. We have always dreamed of working together, so there is no one else I would like to help me. That’s why I wanted to incorporate it into the name. The objective of a wine and paint class is to equip you with the necessary painting equipment to create your own work of art with a guided teacher to guide you. All while sipping delicious wine in a fun atmosphere. My goal is to organize private parties including birthdays, bacholettes, companies and fundraisers. We will be doing girls nights, couples date nights, coffee and canvas, parent and kid nights, kids nights and more. Must be 21 of course to drink which we are obliged to check. I would like to include some delicious wines that are produced locally at our studio. So that will be one of the many things I will be working on in the coming months.”

“I moved to Ripley in November 2014, eight years ago. We had actually already bought a house, not in Ripley, but we took a Harley ride down St. Louis. Rt. 52 ending in Ripley. “I had never been there before, but I immediately fell in love,” Jones said. “The houses and buildings had so much character, sitting along the river with great views and beautiful sunsets. We then drove a little further into town finding the house I now call home. It had so much character including the houses next door to it. I wanted to save him. It had huge white pillars, a spiral staircase, high ceilings, sat high on the town hill overlooking the river, the city and had great views of Kentucky. The house had been empty for more than 14 years. The bones were good, but she needed a lot of love. More than I realized at the time. It was definitely a labor of love. Fortunately, my husband does all that work making my little dream come true. I sold my other house without hesitation as I bought the house up the hill in town and moved here to Ripley instead. A decision I will never regret.”

The new business will be located at 6 Main St. In Ripley. It used to be known as Ripley’s Gourmet Tortilla Factory Mexican Restaurant years ago. The Ripley Women’s Club, which does so much for our community, has a thrift store right next to Twizted Sisters. Across the street is Snappers Saloon and is just steps away from Front St. and the Ohio River. Ripley has received a grant to install a new 300-foot two-level concrete boat dock and landing at the Freedom Park location on Front St. Its location is also in the New DORA district. So at the heart of it all is exciting for the new owners.

“I thought long and hard about owning my own business, a business that would be successful, but I also wanted to make it something that everyone would benefit from,” Jones said. “I wanted to bring something to our city that would be different and give everyone of all ages something fun to do. I’ve had a lot of positive feedback from the people at Ripley’s about my idea which only affirms the dream I have for it. I personally love taking wine and painting classes and thought why not? It’s refreshing, fun and a good time and I thought others would enjoy something like that by incorporating some of my ideas into it.”

“We will be remodeling and renovating our location this fall and winter in preparation and excitement for our spring 2023 grand opening,” Jones said. “I plan to have a grand opening for children and adults of all ages. Including a ribbon cutting, food, drinks, open house tours, a kids art contest, face painting, raffles, door prizes and more!! I have always had a love for art. In college I took a lot of art courses. I will be looking for 2-3 artists to hire and add to my team. If anyone is interested they can email me at [email protected] com for more details.”

“We are on Facebook, where we will post details and updates as they come. If you want to follow the progress, we are listed as Twizted Sizters Wine & Paint on Facebook,” she added.
