The fans of Foreign things have had a hard time identifying the exact year and model of Billy Hargrove’s Camaro. That’s because the filmmakers used at least two cars during the series, both heavily modified — according to the Internet Movie Car Database.
The most obvious giveaway that the crew used multiple Camaros to film Foreign things is that in some scenes Billy’s car has power windows, while in other scenes it has manual windows. This may be because the crew used a different Camaro for most of the interior shots.
The Camaro(s) used in the exterior photos are painted blue. They have the Sports Coupe Camaro trim level hood and chrome trim. That said, exterior shots of the car show all vented front fenders and Z28 Camaro trim level badging.
Other details about this car point to its beginning life as a 1979 Camaro Sport Coupe. It’s possible that some modders started with an expensive Camaro Z28, then swapped out every piece of trim for the cheaper trim level. of Sport Coupe trim. But this is obviously impossible. More than likely, at some point, someone swapped the front fenders of a Camaro Sports Coupe for the fenders of a second-generation Camaro Z28.
Why would anyone replace the fenders of an old muscle car? Some believe it’s because the same Camaro crashed on display before.
